DELISENS™, sensitive skin without signs

Sensitive skin is a disorder characterized by a hyperreactivity of the skin to external stimuli, such as dry or cold climates and contact with cosmetic or household products, which may cause itching, burning, stinging, redness or tightness in the sk in. It may worsen and give rise to acute or chronic inflammation disorders.

Sensitive skin needs to be treated in a specialized manner. To this end, Lipotec introduces DELISENS™ which innovatively acts by modulating Proteinase-Activated Receptor 2 (PAR-2)-induced release of pro-inflammatory mediators, a receptor crucially involved in the processing of pruritic and/or inflammatory signals. DELISENS™ has proven in vitro to reduce by 58.2% the release of inflammatory cytokines, induced by cosmetic allergens, after applying a cream containing 4% DELISENS™ SOLUTION.

As a result, this innovative hexapeptide attenuates feelings of discomfort, redness or itching, in sensitive skin, while helping to recover its physiological tolerance threshold. As shown in vivo, 16% of the volunteers did not feel any stinging – induced with 10% lactic acid solution 1 hour after having applied a cream containing 2% DELISENS™ SOLUTION. At the end of a week of treatment, 88% felt a decrease in the intensity of both redness and itching, also induced with a 10% lactic acid solution. This hexapeptide has also proved to mitigate the stinging and burning effect induced by capsaicin on the skin.

Sensitive dry skin will also benefit from formulations containing this hexapeptide. After only a week of treatment applying a cream containing 2% DELISENS™ SOLUTION, skin hydration of the legs increased by 34%, compared to placebo, ameliorating skin dryness, scaling, smoothness, softness and suppleness.

Moreover DELISENS™ helps to restore the damage barrier function and tissue integrity while providing a photoprotective effect, preventing further inflammation. Therefore, by attenuating neurogenic inflammation and skin stinging, DELISENS™ can be the perfect ally in formulations specially targeting sensitive skins where a soothing and repairing effect.
