At this year’s SEPAWA, Omya presented its holistic portfolio of natural ingredients for personal and homecare applications. Advanced mineral particles for decorative cosmetics, skin and oral care were showcased alongside mineral surface cleaners and speciality ingredients from the distribution portfolio. All Omya manufactured calcium carbonate products are based on sustainably sourced minerals with a low carbon footprint and comply with the most stringent quality requirements, with many of them COSMOS approved and NATRUE certified. Attendees also learned about the specialities of the distribution portfolio including colour pigments, flavours, botanicals and much more.

Variety of eco-friendly applications

The Omyacare® brand comprises bright white particles sourced from natural minerals that work as cleansing agents with different grades of abrasiveness, and are thus adjustable according to the desired colour, viscosity and texture of toothpaste and rinse-off applications. Thanks to the diversity of particle sizes within the Omyacare® product range, a broad variety of different applications are possible, such as waterless products, bar soap, toothpaste, tooth tabs and hand wash tabs.

Omyaskin® advanced particles are perfect for cosmetic applications as they minimize skin imperfections naturally while promoting an even skin tone. This visual effect is achieved by specially treated particles that scatter light, thus reducing contrasts and creating a blurred, soft focus effect. The Cosmos/Natrue particles are made from high-purity natural mineral offering high porosity. In addition to being non nano, particle size fits requirements of cosmetic applications. 

Healthy teeth

Another focus was on oral care applications: Omyadent®200 particles are highly effective for desensitizing toothpaste. The co-processed mineral has an outer shell of hydroxyapatite, the main constituent of enamel and dentin. Dentin hypersensitivity can be treated by occluding dentin tubules, thus preventing stimuli and dentinal fluid movement. Thanks to its tailored small particles, Omyadent® 200 penetrates the tubules and effectively occludes them, while the hydroxyapatite shell makes it resistant to acid attack. In combination with natural colorants, cleaning agents and thickeners from Omya’s distribution portfolio, a broad scope of trendy oral care products are on offer, allowing for the creation of natural, trendy and functional formulations.

Particles for perfect polish

For the home care segment, Omya used SEPAWA to showcase its surface cleaners. Depending on the individual product purpose, there are different mineral bases available, such as marble, dolomite or limestone. Ingredients of the brands Omyadol® and Omyacarb® deliver outstanding sorption properties, adjustable abrasivity and good polishing ability – all without harming environmental ecosystems. The cost-efficient, brilliant white and natural particles not only meet the highest expectations in terms of efficiency and sustainability, but also enhance the look and feel of finished products.
