Recognition underscores Indorama Ventures’ commitment for Exemplary Achievements in Responsible Care and Sustainability Leadership

Indovinya, the chemical specialties division of Indorama Ventures, was doubly recognized at the 2025 Responsible Care and Sustainability Conference, hosted by the American Chemistry Council (ACC). The company earned  awards for Responsible Care for Waste Management and Water Stewardship and Sustainability Leadership for Social Responsibility and Community Engagement, standing out among the most innovative and impactful initiatives in the industry.

In the Waste Management and Water Stewardship category, Indovinya was recognized with an ACC Award for its “Stop SMOG” initiative — a cross-functional, data-driven program led by our Supply Chain and Operations teams to proactively manage slow-moving, obsolete, and off-grade (SMOG) inventory.  By integrating real-time analytics, demand forecasting, and material lifecycle tracking, the initiative enabled smarter reuse strategies and minimized waste across our U.S. manufacturing network. In just six months, the team successfully diverted over 7 million pounds of SMOG inventory, with 95% of materials reprocessed, reworked, or repurposed. These efforts avoided more than 14 million pounds of CO₂ emissions and eliminated up to $14 million in potential disposal costs — demonstrating how sustainability and supply chain optimization can go hand in hand.

Winning the Sustainability Leadership Award for Social Responsibility and Community Engagement, Indovinya was recognized for “Fish-O-Rama”, an annual community event held in Port Neches, Texas, in partnership with the Beaumont Children’s Museum. The event supports STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) through fishing tournaments, educational activities, and sustainability-focused vendor booths. In 2024, the event raised over $780,000, much of which was distributed as grants to local educators. The initiative brought together over 1,000 participants and 135 volunteers, strengthening ties between the chemical industry and the community while promoting environmental awareness.

“We are proud to be recognized by the ACC, one of the most respected organizations in the global chemical sector. This achievement reinforces Indovinya’s commitment to sustainable innovation and responsible practices that protect the planet, empower communities, and support a resource-efficient future,” said Kim Knotts, Global Vice President of Environment, Health, Safety, Quality (EHSQ) and Sustainability at Indovinya.

According to Knotts, the recognition granted by the ACC also highlights the strategic role of sustainability in shaping the future of the industry, with positive impacts both on the environment and the communities where Indovinya operates.

ACC’s Sustainability Leadership Awards convened a judging panel with representatives in chemistry, the broader energy industry, and sustainability – working in industry associations, media, and consultants. The judging panel chose winning initiatives based on a range of factors, including the level of innovation the initiative demonstrated, the scope and reach of its impacts and the extent to which it addresses priorities outlined in ACC’s Sustainability Principles and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
