INOLEX was recognized for excellence in scientific research earlier this year by the China Association of Fragrance Flavor and Cosmetic Industries (CAFFCI).

The award was presented for the thesis paper Application Prospects of AminoSensyl™: Natural Cationic Amino Lipid. Co-authored by scientists from the INOLEX China Team in Guangzhou, the paper outlines the advanced properties and cosmetic application of INOLEX’s patented AminoSensyl™ technology.

The paper was judged during the CAFFCI Scientific Meeting 2020 and the 13th China Cosmetics Academic Research Conference held in August 2020. The CAFFCI selection is conducted once every two years to bring together significant scientific developments and recognize key innovations moving the industry.

In the research, INOLEX examines AminoSensyl’s 100% natural quat-free conditioning technology as an innovative system with high-performance and superior environmental and safety profiles compared to traditional cationic surfactants. The active component of AminoSensyl™ is Brassicyl Valinate Esylate, which is an amphiphilic and cationic amino lipid which forms lamellar liquid crystalline structures when combined with fatty alcohols. The raw materials of Brassicyl Valinate Esylate are derived entirely from natural sources e.g., L-Valine is derived from biofermentation of sugarcane glucose and provides a natural cationic charge for hair substantivity.

Regulating the pH value of formulations between 4.0–5.0 using calcium gluconate provides cationicity and forms a stable emulsion with a lamellar liquid crystalline structure. The research shows that AminoSensyl™ significantly strengthens hair to resist breakage and conditions damaged hair. It also provides desirable skin feel and stabilized high oil loads providing prolonged moisturizing properties for skin care applications. AminoSensyl™ technology is commercially available as AminoSensyl™ HC for hair care applications and AminoSensyl™ SC for skincare applications.

We are proud of this achievement that recognizes our scientific expertise in advancing cosmetic ingredients,” said Martin Ma, INOLEX Technical & Marketing Director of Great China.

The thesis was co-authored by INOLEX scientists Jie Xiong, Applications Manager; Luyi Mo, Formulation Chemist; Tingting Liu, Microbiologist; and Mengru Li, Microbiologist.
