SCIENCE 

Preventative botulinum toxin is one of the procedures that is gaining traction among young consumers that are looking for solutions to prevent wrinkles from forming, while achieving a more natural-looking result. 

Argireline® peptide mimics the N-terminal end of SNAP- 25 and it competes with the natural protein for a position in the SNARE complex. If the SNARE complex is slightly destabilized, the acetylcholine filled vesicles cannot release neurotransmitters efficiently and as a result, muscle contraction is attenuated, preventing the formation of lines and wrinkles. 

Argireline® YOUth peptide has been developed for consumers looking to preserve their beauty, including younger generations, and is recommended for oil-based formulations. In vivo, in a foundation, it helped minimize the appearance of expression lines, without compromising the smile expression. In an oil serum, it helped prevent the appearance of expression wrinkles, forehead lines, nasolabial folds and ‘tech neck’ lines. 

KEEPING SMOOTH BUT EXPRESSIVE SKIN 

65 female and male volunteers of Caucasian and Latin American descent aged between 19 and 35 years old applied a foundation with 2% Argireline® YOUth peptide oil solution or a placebo foundation on the face, once a day for 28 days. 

• Shorter and less visible wrinkles around the eyes 
  Evaluated during a smile expression by means of a 3D microtopography imaging system based on fringe projection (PRIMOS). 
• SmiLearning™ smile rating technology based on Deep Learning 
  Deep learning method for facial emotion recognition used to objectively quantify the smile of the volunteers at the end of the treatment. 

PREVENTING THE APPEARANCE OF EXPRESSION WRINKLES AND ‘TECH NECK’ 

60 female and male volunteers of Asian descent aged between 25 and 40 years old applied an oil serum with 0.8% Argireline® YOUth peptide oil solution or a placebo oil serum on the face and neck, twice a day for 28 days. Results were obtained after 7, 21 and 28 days of treatment. 

• Improved skin profilometry 
  The profilometry of the skin surface was evaluated by means of 3D microtopography imaging system based on fringe projection (PRIMOS). 
• Minimized appearance of neck folds 
  The improvement in the appearance of wrinkles on the neck fold area was evaluated by a dermatologist through visual scoring.
