According to the EU Cosmetics Regulation, only safe products may be put on the market. The manufacturer`s labelling and product data are essential elements for the safety of cosmetic products.

Article 19 of the European Cosmetics Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 (EU Cosmetics Regulation) requires that products with date of minimum durability of greater than 30 months be required to indicate how long the product is safe after opening and can be used without any harm to the consumer. This information is indicated by the symbol (open cream jar) shown in point 2 of Annex VII, followed or adjusted by the period (expressed in months and/or years). See Figure 1 for an example.
