The modern strong chelating agents GLDA (glutamic acid N,N-diacetic acid) and MGDA (methylglycinediacetic acid) areThe modern strong chelating agents GLDA (glutamic acid N,N-diacetic acid) and MGDA (methylglycinediacetic acid) arequickly biodegradable and are not labelled as dangerous. They have the ability to bind calcium and magnesium ions, whichbind most of the stains to the surface. These chelates are also able to remove hard water carbonate scales, transforming theminto water soluble metal chelates and will prevent the inactivation of anionic surfactants by water hardness cations, which willgreatly improve the detergency power.
