Research on the first sunscreen products began in the 1930s. Initially, these products were often unappealing in texture and provided very low protection. It wasn’t until the 1980s that the first sunscreens offering both UVA and UVB protection appeared on the market. Today, consumers have a wide selection of sunscreens with broad-spectrum protection, not only against UV radiation but also against blue/visible light (VIS) and near-infrared A (IRA). As knowledge in this field continues to expand, existing theories sometimes need to be revisited and revised.
