It all began with Alwin Engelhardt, who in 1874 founded the “Seifensieder-Zeitung” (in English: soap boiler newspaper) in Leipzig. Unfortunately, little is known about the founder himself. He authored various articles on soap production in the early years of the journal and wrote and edited the Handbook of Practical Soap Manufacturing. In 1887, the publishing rights were acquired by the Lampert company from Augsburg, and only eight years later, Hans Ziolkowsky took over the publishing rights to the Seifensieder-Zeitung.
This marked the beginning of a three-generation history of the Seifensieder-Zeitung, which eventually became today’s SOFW Journal. Hans Ziolkowsky was an active participant in the meetings of the Munich Soap Makers’ Association and established the journal’s close relationship with professional associations. Artikel
