Abstract

Used as efficient active agents in many household care products, silicones are effective in even small quantities, and their effects can be controlled through the type and quantity selected. As examples from household and fabric care demonstrate, their application is compatible with the overall concept of sustainability. Silicones make everyday products last longer, for instance. Because they allow manufacturers to reduce consumption of material resources, their use can save energy and water. In impregnating agents, silicones represent an alternative to fluorine-based active agents.
