The search for an optimal micellar water or cleanser has become increasingly challenging for consumers. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) derivatives and polyglycerols (PG), commonly used in cleansers, are frequently associated with adverse effects such as ocular irritation, allergic reactions, and disruption of the skin barrier, while often failing to provide sufficient cleansing efficacy.
Dimereco ZL10, a zwitterionic dimeric surfactant, is an innovative, patent-pending technological platform, developed to address these issues. Its distinctive chemical structure allows for enhanced cleansing performance at lower concentrations, resulting in more effective yet gentle formulations that minimise irritation. Furthermore, its multifunctional properties enable its application in a wide range of formulations requiring efficient emulsification and wetting.
This study investigates the properties of the zwitterionic dimeric surfactant, including its cleansing efficiency in makeup removal products. Model formulations of micellar water and makeup removal cream are presented, demonstrating the effectiveness of the additive in removing various cosmetic products, such as makeup foundation, long-lasting lipstick, and waterproof mascara. The product is of plant origin, is fully biodegradable and low irritable.
