30th IFSCC Congress, Munich September 18.-21. 2018


Munich, Germany - September, 2018
The 30th IFSCC Congress 2018 in Munich attracted a total of 1094 individuals from 53 countries. Total visits over the 3 days accumulated to 3321, so that all sessions and the exhibition floor were busy with visitors. Some sessions were so popular, that seats were running out. Listeners to the oral presentations were impressed by the excellent quality of the papers. The nearly 500 poster presentations completed the wealth of information on the floor.

The key note address of Dr. Dirk Notz was the first highlight of the event. With impressive pictures and graphics he showed the influence of global warming. Although – as he pointed out – global warming has happened before on earth, it is the first time that its effects hit a high tech civilization and densely populated globe. Therefore the consequences will be felt by a multitude of humans as never before.

The following three days were marked by the various sessions and poster exhibits as well as the exhibitor booths. During the Closing Ceremonies in a Bavarian wooden mountain hut, attendees could enjoy a Bavarian feast, while speakers were honored with IFSCC Awards for their presentations.

Shiseido's Ezure Tomonobu received the basic research award for his presentation:  New skincare paradigm targeting the skin anti-aging system, the dermal cell network. –“Digital-3D Skin” technology opens up a new frontier of internal skin structure analysis
Torsten Ertongur-Fauth of Brain AG  received the award for applied research went to for his podium presentation entitled "Towards Novel Bioactive Antiperspirants for Cosmetic Applications."

Best Poster Award went to: Keiko Nagami, Mibon Co. for the poster tittle : Predicting one`s future hair condition.

The Henry Maso Award was received by: Nelly Dubrulle for her paper: DNA metabarcoding as a tool to trace plants of interest in ingredients or cosmetics.

A special price available to young scientists from Least Developed Countries as listed by the Committee for Development Policy of the United Nations, the Rainer Voegeli Travel Grant was awarded to Mandeep Dutta Joshi from Nepal.

The  Lester Conrad Award was given to the Peruan  Society of Cosmetic Chemists.

The Innovation Golden Award, sponsored by the SOFW Journal was handed to Alexandra Lan, Shanghai Pechoin Daily Chemical Corp. for an outstanding publication in SOFW Journal 10/18 on: New Innovative Sunscreen for the Protection for the Skin Types III – VI

The 2019 IFSCC Conference will be held September 30 to October 2 in Milan.

The 2020 IFSCC Congress takes place in Yokohama from October 20-23, 2020.
