Sustainability is, and always has been, a keystone of Jungbunzlauer’s strategy and value proposition.

We are aware of our responsibility towards the environment and it is important to us to work proactively together with our stakeholders for a more sustainable future. We are committed to implementing sound environmental management practices into all aspects of our business. Therefore, as part of our Vision 2030 strategy, a group-wide interdisciplinary sustainability group has been implemented to build knowledge and work cross-functionally as one team on short and long-term goals to provide our customers with high quality products that are sourced and manufactured in a fair, ethical and environmentally sustainable way. We are pleased to help support our customers in their efforts to make better, safer and more sustainable products.

At all our production sites, we strive to implement and exercise sustainable practices and improvements to ensure the continued availability of our natural resources and to protect the environment. For our long-term goal Carbon Neutral 2050, we continuously work to minimise greenhouse gases emitted from our factories and aim for a steady reduction of waste and optimal recycling streams. Successfully tested energy saving programs have been rolled out at all our facilities. As a result of these discussions, various small and large savings projects were put into place.

  • At our Austrian plant Pernhofen, we improved the heat recovery systems in different areas of the plant.
  • At our Canadian plant in Port Colborne, an additional heat recovery project was implemented to reduce the thermal energy consumed. Water consumption was reduced by 10% by improving water recovery from the Welland Canal.
  • At our German plant in Ladenburg, new LED lights have been installed throughout the facilities to further increase energy savings and with improved recycling (separate paper collection) we were able to decrease general waste by 10%.
  • At our French plant in Marckolsheim, we implemented a new volatile organic compounds treatment unit.
