Title: Green the better clean – the EU regulatory framework today and tomorrow

Abstract: The regulatory framework for surfactants, one of the major ingredients for home care products, has been developed over the last 50 years in Germany and in Europe. Today we can state that the manufacturing of surfactants and the products themselves are subject matter of a matured regulatory framework in the European Union. Nevertheless, new and upcoming legislation leave the impression that more substance related data are needed, further restrictions should enter into force and faster decisions in terms of substance evaluation would improve the situation and create additional benefit for human and the environment. After a short summary of the regulatory framework today an outlook to the upcoming legislative transformation will be provided.
