Inarguably, in the recent years the world of minimalist natural beauty is growing in demand. For this reason, natural multifunctional ingredients have been under scrutiny, but when it comes to minimalist, multifunctional and efficient use of natural components we can learn from the oldest and wisest of all, nature and more in detail, tress. They use a single compound, lignin, to support their mechanical strength, and protect themselves against UV radiation, free radicals, and even microbial attacks. Moreover, once trees die, Lignin returns to the soil after natural degradation by organisms like the white-rot fungus, nourishing the soil again for new trees and plants to rise, a perfect merge between sustainability and functionality.

In this talk we will explore the concept of minimalist natural beauty, from sourcing natural components without compromising ecosystems to enabling clean formulations with less ingredients. The idea of using less resources is engrained in Lignopure’s core, where our goal is to maximize the utilization of bioresources already exploited, i.e. Lignin, an otherwise waste material derived from biorefineries to then upcycle it for its valuable combination of functionalities rather than just to tag along a sustainability trend.
