Title: Natural Oat Peptides from Biotechnology for Tailor-Made Hair Repair despite the Level of Damage

Language: German

Abstract: Hair damage is a major concern among consumers that are looking for repair and protection. Hair is mainly composed of proteins, whose composition and structure is impacted by stressors like day to day grooming or more harsh treatments (heat, chemicals). This leads to changes of the mechanical properties, less resistance and strength of the hair fiber, and more breakage.

In the past few years, peptides are gaining in popularity among consumers as an effective solution to rescue hair damage.
SymProt’in™ Oat is natural hair care active, concentrated in biomimetic oat peptides. Obtained through enzymatic extraction technology, this new ingredient has a unique, tailor-made composition profile, for designed and adaptative efficacy on hair.

The more damaged the hair, the more interactions with the ingredient.
Because of their very small molecular weight, the selected oat peptides will deeply penetrate into the cortex and thanks to their polarity they will be able to target the damaged sites within the hair, for effective repair and protection. SymProt’in™ Oat will link and stay into the cortex even after rinsing, to help restore the structural integrity of the hair, for mass restoration of damaged hair. This was demonstrated via MALDI TOF TOF Mass Spectrometry analysis.

By restoring the structural integrity of the hair fiber, this new ingredient is improving hair strength and resistance, for less breakage and anti-fatigue action. Tensile test, breakage assessment and anti-fatigue test have been conducted on hair tresses with different levels of hair damage. This demonstrates the performance of SymProt’in™ Oat versus placebo, applied in shampoo and conditioner.

This new ingredient concentrated in oat peptides is therefore perfectly answering the demand of the market for natural and sustainable solutions, with proven efficacy on hair damage, one of the top concerns for consumers globally.
