Title: Colorful Actives – a Full Potential Workout for Vibrant Clean Beauty Concepts
Language: German
Abstract: Since centuries, in ancient cultures clay, spices, semi-precious stones, etc. have been used to create bright colors in cosmetics. During the 1800s heavy metals like lead were used to make formulations even more vibrant and long-lasting. Nowadays, we find a huge range of cosmetic dyes and pigments on the market, like organic lakes, botanicals, and inorganic mineral compounds like mica.
Coloration in cosmetics serves different purposes: in decorative cosmetics coloration is the primary aspect, with the goal to enhance our appearance and to underline our personality. Coloration in skin care products on the other hand, has a completely different intention. Here, the coloration is not supposed to last after application of the product. It is basically only used to attract consumers visually and to spotlight the actual claims of the formulation even more notable (e.g., blue for hydration). In other words, colorants in skin care products only serve as marketing tool, without adding any real benefit to the application. Keeping in mind, that our all over goal is still clean beauty, isn’t there a better solution?
Colorful actives are the new way to make your application stick out but remain true clean beauty products, that focus on the important things! These natural extracts and substances, with their proven activity, additionally add color to your formulation, without the need for further, unnecessary pigments/dyes. We will introduce to you a copper tripeptide, naturally occurring in human blood, that will bring a stable vibrant blue color to your formulation, while it enhances cell regeneration, skin repair and fights signs of aging. Furthermore, with our new chlorophyll-copper complex made from ginkgo leaf, your next application will not only reflect the beautiful green color of mother nature, but also contribute with antioxidative power to your formulation. And don’t let us forget astaxanthin!
