- OQEMA acquires Chemark ApS, Tureby, Denmark
- The move has generated strong growth for the company’s network in Scandinavia
- The OQEMA Group continues to pursue its European strategy with the acquisition
The OQEMA Group has taken over the Danish chemical distributor Chemark ApS and will integrate the company going forward. The company, which focuses on solvents, has been active in the Nordic distribution market for around 20 years and works with some of the largest producers of solvents worldwide. Chemark is a perfect complement to the OQEMA portfolio in the following industries: paint and coatings, pharmaceuticals, detergents, and HI&I. Its annual turnover is currently around 40 million euros.
Anders Englund and Peter Nielsen, who have successfully managed Chemark for the last 12 years and who will both be leading the company in the future, said: ‘Our roots are medium-sized and family-run. We are sure that OQEMA can take up this tradition and that we will be spared the mistakes that happen when you sell your company to a corporate group.’
Peter Overlack, CEO of OQEMA AG, is proud of the growth in northern Europe, and with this move he and his team continue to pursue the European strategy of the company: ‘Chemark’s turnover is not massive in relation to the overall Scandinavian market. What convinces us is the quality of the business, the quality of the management and the location in the greater Copenhagen area, which provides an excellent operating base for expansion into Sweden, Finland and Norway. The company has cast its net wide into neighbouring markets. We will gladly and with commitment continue to develop it in this direction.’
The OQEMA Group is one of the leading chemical distributors in Europe with 45 sites in 21 countries. We provide services all along supply chains at the point of contact between chemical manufacturers and chemical processing industries. The OQEMA Group has a dynamic, steadily growing portfolio of industrial and specialised chemicals and over 15,000 products.
